In Mexico there´s a whole generation that doesn´t know what water fountains are. Bottled water industry has controlled the market while public services delivery has been neglegted. This has made of Mexico the largest consumer of soft drinks in the world, consuming 163 liters per person in one year and the largest consumer of bottled water, 234 liters per person per year.

In view of the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals, likely to include increased access to water and energy services, this fifth edition of the United Nations World Water Development Report (WWDR 2014) seeks to inform decision-makers (inside and outside the water and energy domains), stakeholders and practitioners about the interlinkages, potential synergies and trade-offs, and to highlight the need for appropriate responses and regulatory frameworks that account for both water and energy priorities.

The Foundation France Libertés is collaborating with FANMex on a project looking at indigenous perspectives on the right to water.

After March 2014, FAN will be transferring its head quarters from London to Switzerland and incorporating itself under Swiss Law in order to strengthen its presence and engagement with the UN and other international organisations, including Human Rights protection mechanisms, as well as reduce transaction and governance costs.
